History Edition Part 2-Rockets
Rockets
There are approximately "132.46 crores" people in our country India.
Out of those 95.6 % of the people celebrate the festival "Diwali".
(shame on those unlucky 4.4%)
First something about Diwali. It's an Hindu festival(in name only though, every religion celebrates it,which is a good thing)
Now all of us have at least seen or fired a small Diwali rocket. Some might even have launched the legendary 12 at once rockets too.Now lets not go off topic there.Even wondered where these rockets originated from? Eh? Eh?
Yes? No? Well never mind. That's why I am writing this anyway.
Then lets delve in another post of Indian History.
This here (in the picture above) is one of the famous rulers in Indian history, commonly known as Tipu Sultan. And by now you might have guessed it(or not) that this men invented the world's first rocket-the Mysorean Rockets.
Now now...they weren't celebrating Diwali that time. These rockets were used for occasions as these were made in the midst of war with the Britishers.
Tipu sultan was often regarded an great inventor and he personally designed the rockets to be used the British militia. These rockets were your average Diwali rockets and were easy to use. These rockets easily replaced the fire arrows of that time and Britishers had lost the Mysore Wars due to these rockets.
These rockets when launched had no sense of direction unlike your classic bow and arrows which you can aim and often landed in self injuries for Tipu Sultan's Army. But their random routes often caused a distraction to those British soldiers and even burned some of their tents while being armed with deadly blades on the top to dish out extra damage. And what's more, these rockets were launched in numbers of thousands at a single time. And that is how the "Mysore ka Sher"(The Tiger of Mysore) won the Mysore wars against the Britishers.
That's all for today Folks.Stay tuned for more.
