Indianism Part 1

Today let's learn why I decided about the blog name "Indianism".


According to Me, Indianism means-a word or idiom characteristic of Indian's English Accent.


It all started when our Honourable communication skills sir-Mr Shrad  Tiwari, took our lecture about Indianism. His idea about indianism and his lecture motivated me about this blog.
These are some phrases or words we Indians use mostly,but seems an abrupt  attempt to speak English to native speakers.Be Sure to avoid them.

Well then,Lets see some Indianism shall we?


1.Cutting-Well i started with this one since its the most common one used.Cutting can mean anything from cutting a piece of paper or something else.But here in India,Cutting is literally used in different sense.Cutting here when said to chai-wala(Local Roadside Tea/Coffee Vendor)is meant to serve tea in small glasses,usually opposed to the full sized glasses.
2.Time Pass-Time pass might seem common to the native Indians, but to other friends in the U.S about this word,and it took them a moment to realise what i was meaning actually.Time Pass actually means the time we spend doing when we are bored and there is nothing to do.

 3.Fall-Nothing sinful or autumnal about this.It's the strip of cloth lining the lower  border of  a sari to reinforce it against damage while also helping the fabric to 'fall' properly. Nothing we can do to not use it.Its actually a Indian jargon(words specific to an institution)in some sense.
           
4.Discuss about-For this one,here's an example:

                            "Tomorrow the meeting is scheduled to discuss about...."

  Wait wait wait..lets stop there and read it again.Discuss itself  means to talk about something.

                              But he,she,you and I all make the same mistake.

  I am glad we discussed about it,and hope we not repeat this in the future.Well I doubt that,as my previous line is a reflection. Uffff!!!

History Edition part 4-Little Poland In India

                                             Well sorry for the delay about this post. Now while skimming through thousands of Quora text's I came across a peculiar question which was- What makes India a very different country from rest of the world? And the answer to it is even more peculiar and intresting than the question itself. The ship was refused to come in by many European and Asian ports in Seychelles, Aden etc. The ship continued to sail and reached Iran. There too they did not get permission to dock. UNKNOWN FACTS ABOUT MAHATMA GANDHI Title of “Mahatma” or “Great soul” was given by Rabindranath Tagore . According to a popular anecdote, when Gandhiji visited Rabindranath Tagore at Shantiniketan in the year 1915, he greeted him with a 'Namaste Gurudev'. On hearing this, Tagore's reply was, "If I am Gurudev, you are Mahatma". Since then Mahatma, which means a great soul, has become popular as his first name. ' Father of the Nation ' might not have been officially accorded by the Indian Government, but it still has come to be associated with him. The origin of the term dates back to a radio address by  Subhas Chandra Bose  on Singapore radio on July 6, 1944 as the Indian National Army that was headed by him started its march in Delhi. He was  nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize 5 times.  However, he was not awarded with it and the committee regrets not giving him the Nobel Peace Prize to this day. Also, this  award cannot be given posthumously.
